[5944] crash in 8.1b4 when synth dropped into MIDI track

Completely reproducible here on OSX 10.5.8. Max is not running.

To repro:
1. Drop synth, such as Operator, onto MIDI track.
2. Add Arpeggiator MIDI effect, and turn up number of steps to 1 or 2.
3. Play some notes using computer keyboard.
4. While playing, drop new synth, such as Analog, onto MIDI track. This causes crash.

Note that if I drop the synth onto the device lane, everything works correctly and arp pattern continues.
