I am going to buy an APC 40 in the very near future. I'm an avid user of the Virus TI Snow. I had a few questions that need answering. Hopefully somebody could help me.
Some time ago I had bought a cheap M-Audio X-Session Pro to use as a cheap knob box. I found that the buttons on the X-Session were assigned to notes-on messages along MIDI channel 1. That is to say, when I would press the Play, Stop, Forward ( > ) or Back ( < ) buttons on the X-Session, it would trigger notes on Channel 1 of the Snow, even if I assigned the buttons (and knobs, for that matter) to other parameters in Ableton.
I had to wait until M-Audio came out with a patch for Enigma for the X-Session Pro that allowed me to change the MIDI channel the X-Session sent on to a channel the Snow did not use.
Now for my question...
I read recently that the Clip Launch buttons on the APC 40 are also assigned to MIDI notes. Given the fact that these buttons seem auto-assigned by the software to Ableton, if I press Clip Launch buttons on the APC 40, will it trigger notes on channels 1 - 4 of the Snow? If so, what would be the easy way of disabling such MIDI sends, or changing the channels the APC sends on?
(I don't want to trigger notes on the Snow using the Clip Launch buttons, or, for that matter, adjusting Snow sound patch parameters with the knobs, unless I specifically assign them to do so.)
Thanks for the help
