I can't figure out how to use my APC 40 as an instrument tool as opposed to just launching clips. Any advice on how to work it like a Monome?

Without using external midi editors like Bome's MT you only have a relatively un-flexible solution to emulating a kind of Monome setup, and that's by using follow actions or looping of individual hits on your chosen clips and then midi mapping them to the desire positions on your clip matrix. This however isn't a very flexible solution, as you end up with just the 40 available buttons and no scroll options since you mapped the buttons to corresponding clips.
It is however a bit of fun to see how long you can go with that approach, and I have made some rather OK setups using this formula.
I only have a small gripe with the launch quantisation as it seems to be lagging at times and cause you to trigger the sequence off sync.
