Question about EXS-24 Instruments in Live 8

Post by CloudsOfSound » Thu Oct 29, 2009 8:29 pm

I have a bunch of EXS-24 instruments from Apple Logic. When I try to use them in Live 8 i get a message that i need "the product Sampler" to overcome this limit.

Isn't Sampler a part of the full Live 8 Package?
If not so, what are my options? these are the regular .exs/.iff combination to modulate sampled instruments.
You can do that in Reaper for $60 i believe...

I'm absolutely incompetent to this DAW world, and Live is the second program I try, so arrest me and never say hello, if this post is totally far out... ;-)

Help is, as always appreciated.

You do need Sampler to open .exs instruments in Live.
You can also use 3rd party samplers like Kontakt (by native instruments), and I think Mach 5 by Motu - they all cost $$.

Sampler is additional to Live - and can be purchased seperately.
Sampler is included in Live Suite (Live + all the instruments & more)

It is unclear what you mean by " full live 8 package" - if you mean Live or Live Suite. So check your account to see what you actually have. :D

yea the product set can be confusing the first time around.

Live LE (lite):limits several things like track count. comes with a few sounds
Live: unlimited tracks and effects, comes with a few sounds.
Live Suite: unlimited tracks and effects, comes with 9 or 10 instruments and A LOT more sounds.

you have live, but not the suite. You can buy sampler as an add-on without purchasing the whole suite. If you have a lot of sample based content it might be worth it for you.
