impulse 'misses' samples
impulse 'misses' samples
i have made an impulse pattern, and sometimes one sample isn't played. it seems to be triggered (the 'play' triangle lits up on the impulse slot), but there isn't any sound coming out. it's a ride cymbal on the 6th slot (so it isn't linked). there's no automation in the clip.
if i 'solo' this sample, it seems to play fine. the sample isn't played only when the whole pattern is running. the missed sample always occur at the same place (like first beat bar 2, 3rd beat bar 4, then the pattern will go through ok, then the same samples are missed...).
i really can't figure out what's wrong.

I've had that happen a few times as well. I think impulse is maxing out on polyphony, if you can believe that! It's the only option I can think of. Especially since it's long sustained ride cymbals that are causing the problem. Try reducing the release of the samples, does that work? The envelope may sustain past the length of the actual sample.

i thought of that as well, as the release time was 10s, but even if i shorten it the problem still occurs (and my ride doesn't sound like a ride anymore). and my pattern is rather simple: kick, snare, hh and ride, and not in a drum'n'bass style... rather straight hiphop.
i didn't notice it in 4.0.1, but i can't check since i've uninstalled it.
anyway, thanks for the input.

peeddrroo, i would just remove everything from the song and just provide the impulse. ..assuming you are using factory sounds for the impulse. as long as they can see the bug i don't think they need your whole set/arrangement.
i had this behaviour also, and i sent them a cropped live set on the 20th, and they're still looking into it AFAIK.
i was just using the samples from the presets, all factory sounds, but rearranged slightly in a different preset. interestingly, using different factory presets with the same problematic midi loop can create different dropped notes, but always dropping from the same slot-- a snare in my case; and so can rearranging the midi hits of the other impulse slots.
veeeerry strange.
