This first part goes through how to setup a 64 button grid on a controller and then how to address it in Max. This is the first part of a series that will bring you through the programming of different hardware controllers. We will illustrate many techniques throughout the series.

Thankyou, your series of tutorial are keeping me going with my crippled max installation, i can practise i just can't save so i'm not putting in the hours i want to with my mapping of the APC... Thankfully it's meant i've had the time to plan out the schematic of what i want to do and tinker with it before i get deep into the programming which'll get messy without the proper planning as i've learnt so far....

It can work with the Launchpad. There are definitely better methods through the API that I plan to illustrate.

I'm working on a mad step sequencer for the Ohm64. I'll be sharing my code once it's cleaned up. Since I can't do sysex, I have to use notes to light things up.
I'm relying on the factory default MIDI settings, then converting those into something useful in my m4l device. Converting the fac. defaults note values into the "label numbers" really easy - just put note:

I really didn't think about the math required to use the default midi mappings in a grid on the Ohm64. I probably should have done that first. I will use that in my future patches. Thanks...

Having looked at the content in some detail last night i'm thinking it's a yes but i haven't seen enough stuff that uses the buffer to do beatrepeat style stuff that can be trigged midi wise....

Believe me, The Beat repeat and loop slicing stuff is definitely doable, has been done, and will be done again. I will get into some MSP tutorials in the upcoming months. Which made me think of a cool tutorial: Manipulating Beats and Slices... Or something like that.

Ok i'm convinced, there was just the one gap that at the moment beatlookup for Reaktor is filling, i just want to build my own that i can understand and therefore tweak!!

I'm really just bumbling along at the minute though and it's quite frustratingly fun!!

Manipulating Beats and Slices will be a Nobel Peace Prize winning tutorial!!
