Re: Native instruments or presonus
why are these your only choices? why is this even a topic?
i would choose the RME with everything it needs to run for $1200!!!

You don't like the topic don't reply just wanted some opions didn't know these forums were like future producer and mpc forums
Re: Native instruments or presonus
well they are both different cards.. the audio8 is designed for Djing, specifically for Traktor and such.. if your going to get traktor pro, then it's a no brainer.. it's supposed to come with Traktor LE but like you said, no disk.. don't know how easy it is to obtain..
the presonus looks more designed for the budget recording studio rather than djing..
so if your into djing, get the audio8.. i think it's the better deal of the two also.. but if your not into djing and don't do gigs and stuff, get the presonus..
don't mind this forum.. everyone is pretty cool here, just thicken your skin a bit.. mcq probably just had a bad day... u get use to it..

Re: Native instruments or presonus
I think we'd all like a $1200 RME given a choice
However - not everyone has cash to burn like that, so some of us have to aim a little lower in this recession. Both the Presonus and NI give pretty good converters and mic pres for their price point and those prices are decent. As for which one ? If you need more I/O then get the Audio8 - although it's aimed as a live interface, it can do standard tasks well. Otherwise the Firebox is a good option and maybe slightly better suited for home studio use.

Re: Native instruments or presonus
so are you guys saying the firebox isnt good for djing or live use with ableton
Re: Native instruments or presonus
No, it is solid but nothing great, the deal you get on that DJ8 is better(compare retail prices), more flexibility and above all Cirrus Logic AD/DAbadguy#5 wrote:so are you guys saying the firebox isnt good for djing or live use with ableton
Re: Native instruments or presonus
The one thing I don't like about the NI audio interface is that it is using unbalanced RCA connectors, which in a club situation can cause lots of issues with lighting, etc. The Firebox has balanced connections which is a lot better. Then again we are using a Presonus Firestudio live and I had to rig a cable that connected the chassis to earth ground to eliminate a high pitch noise when using it for shows... my 2 cents.

Cirrus are decent converters in this price range - but Presonus's pres and converters are not like dogshit or anything, they're in a similar ballpark at least
It's a tougher choice than first appears because they have different strengths.
