Hi.
The RAM button has been a scary button for me since i started.
Im running about 1000 clips of audio some at re-pitch, some complex and some complex pro for my mashup show.
Im running a macbook pro Dual 2.4GHz and 4GB RAM.
Im not sure whether i should tell live to load ALL my clips into RAM...
Would this help stability and reliability on stage?
Im going to try running my show tonight on an external e-sata disk in the pci-express card slot to see if that helps....
Any advice/feedback would really be appreciated.
Thanks, Benji

Hello
I think u should try the set first a bit...
I use RAM mode only when the HD indicator flashes, in order to have more comfort tasks for the disk.
I don't think its a good way to put all of your clips in to RAM.
Hope I helped a bit

Hi.
Thanks for that.
Im not sure what it would do if i did load all my tracks into the RAM but i think it may be more stable than an external disk?!
What do you all think?

Also.....
running at higher buffer rates strains the computer doesnt it?
i know at lower buffer rates clips load faster but have dropouts...
running from external e-sata from pci-express seems all good....
i think my next mac will be internal solid state... i heard prodigy did this recently because of the bass in the club!?

Your RAM gets used for many things, so best not to fill it up with long samples but if you're triggering loads of short samples then sure, I don't see the harm in getting them to play off your RAM.benjamingordon wrote:Hi.

Laptops with 5400 rpm drives can't play that many tracks simultaneously (around 30 max) so RAM is a great way of expanding your computer's capabilities.

Hi.
Great piece of advice thanks!
I'm just conscious of what effect it would have if I load too many tracks into the RAM.
My next computer will be either a 7200 drive or an SSD...
I've heard mixed things about internal flash though!?
