Windows 7 x64 with Ableton Live 8.09 CPU HOG

I've been using Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 for my audio production PC together with Ableton Live 8, and yesterday I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 X64 Ultimate as I heard much about it...

Everything went smoothly, till I started noticing that my cpu meter going higher than usual with same VST plugins i used to use before on Vista x64...
Is there some tweaks I should do to get it at least work like before??

I dont know if there are any tweaks that can be done but i was wondering if you had done a update/upgrade over Vista or a complete NEW install. I would say the latter of the two is deffo the way forward in General, i dont know if that has anything to do with your issues

I have 6 indentical Hard drives 3 in my PC (C Drive i only have installs and D drive tracks and E drive all other data)and 3 for backup and Install test reasons. I just take out my C drive replace with a test drive and install away with no worries. Expensive Hobby but makes up for sleepless nights.

sounds like an awesome set up...like the way you think

as far as the OP...as a rule I say unless you really are having major issues or just generally aren't satisfied with your current set up...stick w/what you got. I have a lot of people trying to get me to upgrade from XP pro to 7. I'm sticking with what I got as it works great. My point being that I will and I'm sure others will try and help w/said issue but you may want to consider going back to your previous set up (especially if you have an drive image) and return that Windows 7.

8GB Ram DDR2 Kingston
Hard disk: 2 x raptors 74GB and 150GB 10.000rpm and 320GB 7400rpm

overclocks are bad...mmmkay...
and.. when win7 was new on my system.. it was doing many analysis and indexing tasks in the background...
so check which processes are running when you get the spikes...
also ...if a specific plug is causing this then maybe it has a better version available..
if not .. you might consider reporting a bug ..either to Ableton or to the vsts company

But honestly overclocking ran very well on Vista x64...I didn't even have a glitch...and it's been almost one year without a problem, I just needed to upgrade ...
I believe I have to check all my drivers and like you said "tasks in the background" ...I missed this one...

I really don't get why you upgraded. You say you just needed to upgrade....why?
I say go back to the previous set up as it was clearly working out for you.

vista worked fine for a lot of people. i was one, but i also upgraded to win 7 and it just runs better for me. and i haven't felt the need to overclock my CPU like it was when i ran Vista.

Good question, why did I upgrade ? it's all cause of my wife who bought me Windows 7 on my birthday...LOL...
Plus I bought a laptop a month ago that has Windows 7 installed on it, and couldn't be happier...so I thought I would by happier if I upgraded my Production PC as well...
So far I'm liking what I see...everything runs smoothly, it's just the cpu issue...
I opened old files that I produced on Vista before, and they ran very well on W7 with almos the same CPU level...

I believe it's just Sylenth1 ....i'm reaching sometimes to 24% which is weird, casue before I never reached more than 5% with Sylenth...so maybe it's sylenth problem and not Ableton or Windows 7....can't tell , I need to do more experiences, till I find out what it is...
