spent a day with MFL having no Max experience. The big disapointment so far is the lack of step by step lessons and tutorials. I dived right into the option to build your own effects and it is said many times that you can do this. But where is the complete step by step tutorial (no, not the one that tells me to first learn Max Msp..) The point with MFL was that it was easier than Max Msp. If I knew I had to learn this first, I would not have bought MFL. In order to make this as usable as Live is the terminology as well as lessons and tutorials should get a good work over.

step by step how to build audio effect?
Re: step by step how to build audio effect?
patience.
in the max window there are many help files. go through the max tutorials listed there. play with the examples, check out the box to see related commands.
watch this video and check out other videos on this site, they're very good:
http://www.max4live.info/content/tutori ... max-part-1
there are also help lessons in the Live library.
lots of resources.

you could consider to modify an existing device instead of
building a new one from scratch.
The lessons delivered with Live 8.1/Max 5.1 start with very
simple but well-commented devices which you could try to modify
a little and see what happens. Just press the edit button!
