Changing presents in instrument while changing clips

Post by moondancer » Fri Nov 27, 2009 8:16 am

Hi.

I have a problem. Is there any way to change preset of instrument in track when i change the clip?
I know that I can add one new track with another preset of this instrument but I don't want to do this.

You can create an automation in the envelope section of the clip...

Unfortunately live native instruments take no program change since they have no standardized midi implementation. You can use the hot swap button but this can get annoying if you play live..

I'd do it with the chains of the racks in case of native instruments. (VSTi's take program changes, due to this advantage I'd send the programm change together with the midiclip)

For Live's native Instruments..
1. ..I'd wrap around the Instrument an Instrument Rack by clicking right on the Instr. and choosing "group".
2. Unfold the chain view of the Instrument rack and and activate the mapping mode.
3. on the upper side of the chain (first there should be just one chain visible)is the chain selector visible, click on that one and map it to one of the eight macros of the instrument rack.
4. click right mouse button on the chain view, lefthand where the sole chain is visble and choose 'add new chain' (something like that, sorry can't remember exactly how the menu option is called now)- now you should see 2 chains.
5. click right mouse button in the right side of the chain view and choose something like 'divide areas evenly'(sorry can't remember exactly either)- you should see 2 bars sharing the whole area of the chain view evenly
6. on the upper-left side there is a Auto button, activate it.
7. Now try the macro we've mapped (3.) - you should see the the selector switching between the chains.
8. Choose the new empty scene and drop an instrument of your choice.
9. Now you can switch between the instruments with the macro you've mapped in 3. .

If you save different settings of one instrument separate chains you can select the preset with the chain selector without using the 'hot swapping'.

10. In the regarding Clip you can automate the chainselector (the macro respectively) itself.

BTW anybody found something more convenient regarding lives native devices?
