APC40 HELP!

Post by Max2584 » Mon Nov 30, 2009 5:10 pm

Good morning world. I've just purchased an APC40, and after reading all of the tutorials of how to fix any bugs, it's still not wotking. Here is how it's functioning...

-It powers up
-The PC recognizes it (Also tells me that I've plugged in an APC40)
-When I open Ableton, the indicator lights go off telling me that there is a midi device interacting with the program
-I can even midi map it into Ableton

The only thing is that I wish It would map itself. I also have similar problems, but not nearly as bad with the MPK25. Both new. The only button that works on the APC40 is the "shift" button, which plays a single sustained note. It's been driving me crazy for about a week now. If anyone can help, I'll give you my first born.

Also, I've tried the HKEY solution, the unplugging and restarting solutiion, the removal of any Logitech devices, making sure I have both of the audio codec files, and so on and so on. At this pont, I have just installed a fresh copy of XP.

This kind of stuff keeps me up at night 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

When will the suffering stop! The only advice I came across before I came here was "why don't you buy a Mac?" Which I replied "Why doesn't your mother lay golden eggs."

What version of Live are you guys running?

Also, have you selected it as a control surface in the MIDI preferences?

I'm using 8.0.9, and I have selected it as a control surface and made sure that it was activated.

Are you saying you want to map things other than the standard default settings?

If so you need to activate the midi preferences of track and remote for the input and output of the APC40 in the bottom half of your Midi preferences...

Other than that i'm not sure that you're being clear on what the problem is? I'd love to help if i can....

Cheers

The main problem is that Ableton is not being as "plug and play" as should be. I can map the parameters individually if I want to, but even if I map the track to hit play, the button that should stay green turns of immediately. I just want the glade sensation. "plug it in, plug it in"

Still no luck. I've tried everything, and there is still no default mapping that comes up when I open Ableton.
