Ableton is really frustrating!! Friggin manual just says click in the Midi Display and execute the Split command.(it doesn't say right click... or...) Well that doesn't work, or you've got to point to some really non-intutive spot to get the Edit/split command to not be greyed out. I once stumbled on this last year, but now I'm relearning.
Can someone Please give me a hint...I'm doing this on a midi waveform. I'm sure it's very simple
How do you split a midi clip ?

Love giving advice that helps me too.
In the arrangement view go to the clip and click on the grid line where you want the split. It should look just like the red flashing line you see up top for position etc. Then the Split command is available.

You'll need to consolidate each clip too if you want them to be truly separate.

Why alt-click? Just clicking on the timeline and then pressing ctrl(or apple)-e does it.
