max question, deal breaker
max question, deal breaker
will max files made before max4live open in m4l? like a max 5 file?
Re: max question, deal breaker
Yes and no. The architecture is the same, but its a different kind of file. There are restrictions on how things work inside m4l; some things work better, some things require work-arounds. All of my Max5 patches have ported over nicely, but required some tweaking. Its not drag and drop, though.

Hi Lucien, lucien wrote:will max files made before max4live open in m4l? like a max 5 file?
you can't directly open a .maxpat file inside m4L ( ie:Live
you have to create a blank .amxd ( m4l device) inside Live 8 by dragging a maxaudio effect, instrument or midi effect, enter edit mode then copy/paste the content of you original .maxpat

Re: max question, deal breaker
To clarify a little further, you can't load .maxpat directly into a Live set, but MaxMSP will open patches as normal, and copy/paste works just fine. You may also use abstractions within your Max for Live device.
