Windows 7 Pro 64bit & Live 8.1 Clip Lag

Post by Nick Fury » Fri Dec 11, 2009 3:18 pm

I've already sent a report to tech support, but just wanted to see what you guys have to say on this so here it goes.

So before the issue of the clip timing/lagging. I was running Live 7.0.14 on an a Laptop running Windows Xp home 32 bit no problems. Then as of a month ago I recently upgraded to a newer laptop specs following:

Comp Specs
Sony Vaio FW590
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
2.8ghz core 2 Duo
8 gigs ram
Toshiba 500gb 7200rpm
ATI mobility Radeon HD4650

Soundcard
M-Audio FW1814 (latest drivers for Windows 7)

I then upgraded to Live 7.0.18 due to purchasing an APC40, & Launchpad. I was putting together a performance set, and when triggering clips. I started noticing when pressing the buttons on the APC, & or Launchpad that the clips were not triggering on time. Before on my XP system I would run the the FW1814 at 512 with no noticable latency issues. Now even running the FW1814 at the lowest buffer size 64 or 3ms, and at different qauntize settings. I can not match 2 clips when DJing/Performing. The timing is still off, and this is the 1st time Ive ever had this issue. I've tried all the different compatilbility modes. I read on a thread that this issue was solved by upgrading to Live8.1 but to no avail its still there, and is very frustrating considering the money I spent to upgrade in hopes of a fix.

Whats even weirder is I use Acid Pro 6.0d for all my sequencing, which in turn I run Massive, Albino, Reason. Any audio software outside of Live I have no noticable latency issues whatsoever. Everything else runs great. I though it might have been my Firewire chipset being that it is a Ricoh (ehich I found out last nite), but one would think that would affect all audio softare not just Live. I really hope someone/Ableton can help, because I was really considering making the swtich over to being a full time user of Ableton Live, not just using it to perform/DJ with.

Update

Tech support said I have an issue with my M-Audio Driver for the FW1814.. I will be looking into this later on today.. Wierd that this only happens in Live..

Same problem here :(
I've test it in my iMac, new MacBook Air, and Dell Latitude E6410 directly to built-in USB ports (without usb hub).
In all of them clip launching doesn't work in time, User2 midi mapping works perfect though.

Which tech support did you contact? Novation? Ableton?

Thank you,
Fernando
