Max4Live = Follow Action when Clip Ends + Instant Hot Loops

Title says it all really, a little max patch that gives you access to 8 instant hotloops plus the ability to halve and double loops when they've been set....

And then when not looping it will perform a choice of between three different follow actions (currently play above, again or below....)

does it give you any motivation for some more goodies??

heres my wish list:

- set cue points in the track and auto assign them to midi notes. i.e 1st cue point C1, 2nd C1#, etc
- beatmasher or your hot loops points available on a knob. knob must be quantized
- follow action at end of clip to certain clip number ( can you do that ? )
- follow action for number of repeats then play next clip
- waveform display of playing clip on your device (just to view the waveform while still in the device view)

I love how you put the follow actions on the device rack. Can't wait to try this..

The follow action to a certain clip number seems simple enough, i think you'd be able to do pretty much all of the follow actions that are in ableton, i just really need play below for my set up.... The others can be achieved if you can do it mathmatically it can be done.....

And follow action for a number of repeats should be simple enough it simply needs a counter in the loop somewhere....

I've been running cue points with relative positions, you record one and then create a timer to see how far you've gone past to then jump in relative position back to it.... I'm limited to one hot cue with this set-up though and we've only just got access to playing_position so i imagine it will get easier once we can "set" this....

And i've seen a couple of waveform devices already, so it's certainly possible....

I'm off to check those videos out!

I like the gater effect and i see what you mean about the quantized knob stutter..... Have to figure how to work that one but there is a quantize function in max4live.....!

great work. the only thing i'd miss is, i want to have a jumper instead: directly move a defined amount of beats forward or backward in the track, instead of looping. but based on your work that should be simple.

now i have to buy max4live anyways..

At the moment you can do that relatively easily with a metro and a counter, you'd press once to record the jump point and then another button to jump back to it, each time the counter would reset so you come back to the same point... In essence a simplistic hot cue.... It is a little glitchy sounding at the moment though....

i know that. but i want to jump a fixed amount of beats at the first press. no first telling where waiting then jumping. i got too used to that

Then you'd just need a message box that has a fixed message in it, no need to change it each time, it'll only jump a relative position though, however you can quantize this....

yeah, i guess so. but i first have to learn max, it's quite hard for me to wrap my head around it. even while i'm quite good at programming, at music, and at knowing what i want.

i want to jump back or forward one beat, one bar, 8 bars, 16, 32bars. i prefer doing it that way (manually) than looping. as it's more reactive and interactive than loops.

well, your script will sure be very interesting to study for me, giving me ideas on how to handle such stuff. and then, maybe, one day, i can implement my features..
