Should EMU 0404 show up in audio menu under driver type?

My EMU 0404 USB shows up in the inputs and outputs in the audio menu, and I can record and monitor through it, however my only options under driver type are CoreAudio or No Audio.

I have the latest version of Live and the latest drivers from EMU installed on a MAC 2.93 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo w/ OS X 10.5.8. The reason I ask is because I've been having some minor crackling and popping and I'm trying to pin it down.

try turning the latency up higher if you're getting crackles and pops. it sounds like you have it turned down too low. mine runs at 5ms. any lower and i have the same kind of errors.

I have to get my overall latency up over 20ms to get rid of the cracks and pops, and even then I still hear the occasional slight crackle. Anything under 600 samples or under 20ms starts to turn into pure digital distortion.

Seems like something's up.

Are you using an EMU and does it show up under Driver Type?

Okay I just figured out that removing a couple instanes of TC's M30 reverb from the project removed the crackle and allowed me to use a smaller latency (under 500 samples and under 19ms overall latency). This isn't a huge project... just an audio channel and two sequenced tracks (drums and bass). If I get down closer to 400 samples I start getting the noise again.

The answer to my question -- in case anyone else stumbles upon this -- was no. CoreAudio is the right driver type, according to the Live manual, which I should have read in the first place.

I´ve got a 0404 pci (not usb) and I´ve got an emu driver in the audio menu (no Core-driver here). Anyway, you could also try ASIO 4 all and check troubleshooting in the device manager. I´ve got an overall latency of 30 ms at 670 samples which is ok in larger projects (but a tad too much for smooth recording).

in that case core audio as your driver should appear and the card as the I/O device
