Live as a VST plugin!

Post by Gurulogic » Tue Dec 15, 2009 6:52 am

Well, that's what it has come to for me. Nothing reasonable that I ask for ever happens and I have as a result totally outgrown Live as a performance tool, so may as well ask for something totally unlikely/borderline absurd and see what happens...?
I think Live would make a great VST plugin, plus if it was a VST I might even be able to find use for it again!
How about a stripped down version as a VST? Just 8 audio tracks, 8 midi tracks, two returns and that's it!
Ok, I'm holding my breath starting now... (Don't forget to vote!)

This is Nuts.

I love it!

hmmm will I use bidule inside live today?
or live inside energy xt inside audiomulch?
or...?

I am not sure we would get more done that way,
but more fun, yay ;)

would there be Max for Live VSTi?
I'm going home

Does not this exist already? I mean Phrazor!

Phrazor, at least if you use it only for midi purposes has a much more powerful clip management structure than the built in clip structure in Live, see (1) below. So you can just load Phrazor Vsti into Live and use that for midi purposes only.

So a "midi only Phrazor-Vsti" in Live is not a bad idea imo. Of course it always depends on which kind of overall system you want to create for performance or real-time composition and arrangement.

(1) Phrazor clips can store in contrary to Live also multiple program change events. Phrazor clips can contain in contrary to Live midi events on multiple midi channels without loosing the midi channel information. From these two shortcomings of Live the first one is imo more important. But even for the first one you can use some recording tricks as a workaround.
