VST's and Intel Mac - Ableton 8?

So I'm new to the whole VST plug in thing. Can someone help me understand what VST's are compatible with Ableon on my Intel Mac.

Almost every single VST is compatible with Ableton and Mac.

At least I'm using al the vst's I've used on the pc on the (intel) mac now.
Lot of people use vst's from Native Instruments (synth stuff)

I'm pretty sure you need Mac VST's for a Mac - PC versions won't work. Most paid-for plugins give you either option, but there's a load of free PC VST's out there which don't have Mac versions
