live 9 wishlist

Post by bjp » Sun Dec 27, 2009 7:11 am

I am using ableton live as a producer, remixer & for djing. For me it's the software of the future for djing! it's just so fun to play music with live & fx.

so my wishes for the next live version is :

- why don"t create a third view ? clip view, arrangement view & Dj view.
- In that view we could show 2 waveform playing in the same window. It's will be more easy to controle the mix.
- A new row with a 'bag" function where you can preview & arrange your tracks with color, artwork, bpm, style...
- an option to detect the tone, "like mix in key" should be amazing !

there is a lot a ideas to explore for this view like round clip (like tracktor) with history window to see your past playlist...

what do you think about that ?

short answer: use traktor.
longer answer: use max4live.
longer answer: yeah, i'd like a 3rd view. but not with what you ask for, but only to be able to (similar to max patches) be able to chose which components i want collected into an "always visible" stage view. including, maybe, clip view of certain tracks, as an option.

tracktor is just a player for me ... i think ableton is more powerfull, intuitive & creative to mix music because you can use instruments & fx as you want ...

this is just my wishes guys :)

sure. but your wishes reduces it back to what traktor is. how about being flexible and creative in the wishes. like i suggested: allow a third view where you can add anything that you like.

maybe look into the (jazzmutant) lemur, to see how the third page could look like, and the interfaces one could built in there. it could, then, look like traktor. or completely different. tailored to ones needs.

i don't understand exactly your first reply. Now i need to admit that it's a great idea to explore ! customize your ableton as you want for any applications. futuristic point of view ! i love it :) hope the ableton team reads this !

i think the term used for what i ment is really 'stage view'. i think logic has something like that (in some crippled form :)).

in max4live, when you edit a patch, you do all the wiring how you want, and then chose the components that you want to use (knobs, buttons and such) to "add to presentation". there you can arrange it at will, and then only use those components in the presentation when playing with the patch later.

and this would be sort of what i would like to see for max. i would, personally, add clip view of track 1 and 2, a list with tracks, some max4live patches, a grid of the samples i use, and all sorts of knobs for effects.

sort of.

it would be nice :)

if done right, one could build traktor with max4live and stage view. or some lemur style interface. or what ever he wants. it would fit the default design goal of ableton live. it should be used like an instrument. that way, it would be like "the instrument you build yourself".

Being able to open more than one Live set will be good for DJ feature when Live9 comes out :D

- displaying midi controller automations in the track lanes (like automations of vst parameters)
