Midi Focus? & Putting the Foot switch to good use.

Post by sinoise » Thu Dec 31, 2009 2:14 am

Hi there,

I just bought an APC40 and it has allowed me to play and compose music live with great results whether I'm playing solo or with a band.

Having said that, there are still some midi features which I haven't worked out or don't exist.

I have 2 standard sustain foot switches that I want to put to good use, because as well laid out the APC40 is, I just don't have enough hands to hit record and stop while playing an instrument that also requires hands (synthesizer). What would work perfectly would be if I could use a sustain pedal to simply stop/play a recording clip so I don't have to select the clip with my hand. What could do this would be a midi focus option, like that in Traktor Scratch Pro. But I haven't found such an option in Live. I've tried kid beyond's midi translator thing but it's not what I'm after and isn't reliable enough anyway.

Does anyone know of any way of doing this? I'm about to get Max4Live would there be a way of doing it in there?

Cheers,

-Simon
