clip colours and names...

Post by tripboxer » Thu Oct 14, 2004 4:34 pm

it would be helpful if you could change the colour & the name for more than one clip at a time...

before i go into a live-situation i always "organize" my live-sets a little bit. E.g. colouring all "lo-dynamic" scenes in lite green, "hi-dynamic"-scenes in red and so on... Very annoing, when you have to select each clip seperately...

talking more about colors:

Why not choose color for TRACKS?
Then we can visualize groups easily. (pastel colors or % of grey)

renaming and colouring clips is one of the various things that http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12756 could let you do.

Not that I'm obsessed with this feature or anything... but it's the one thing (inability to quickly update MIDI data) that has stopped me buying Live 4, at least until I've tried out Cubase SL3.

apply clip color to selection of clips, yes please...

Post by onnomon » Thu Apr 21, 2005 5:22 am

I typically color according to time (i.e. sections of projects) rather than track by track. This let's see visually when the upcoming breaks or section changes are going to occur. So, by having a feature where one could make a selection of time, objects, tracks, whatever, then apply the color to those clips would be just another feather in the cap for Live. Live seems to be replacing Logic as my arrangement tool of choice.

I think its a priority, not a small feature addtion

totally agree - one of my favorite feature requests (that i keep asking for over and over so they will notice :) )

RECOLOR and RENAME the clips ON the clip ... option to drop down/pop up choices on or next to the clip somehow

going all the way down to the clip view thousands of times is a chore - counterintuitive - makes it harder to categorize / arrrange / keep track of clips

- which is half the battle. bad naming and coloring = confusion and lost parts.

also totally agree on:

- color / shading on Track Channels .. Please!

grey blends together and makes your eyes cross trying to see what channel you are looking for. also, not sexy at all :)

AND

- recoloring / renaming multiple clips at once

- more colors (color wheel with gradients .. ON or next to the clip!)

- longer names for clips with a mouseover to see the hidden namescheme

PLEASE!

The ability to alter multiple clip properties is a must, and to be honest it's ridiculous that it hasn't yet been implemented. I'm sick of having to go through drum clips one by one and change the tempo, warp mode, and fade state on each.

Definitely the most annoying feature ommision.

one more vote for more colors here! I'm always pissing to myself I wish I had more and BOLDER colors...how hard would it be to have a custom palette?
cheers! (funny the program must be nearly perfect if we're worrying about color selection  )

indeed

Post by plonkman » Tue May 10, 2005 6:14 pm

yeah.. there another thread somewhere about this. but i`ll chip in here also :).

it`s been a pain in the ass when I`ve changed the style of my sets (which has happened often in the past when my knowledge has changed a wee bit) when i`ve had to go through every track and change one thing (the same thing usually). No pain, no gain as they say, but it would be a really nice and easy feature to add.

pretty please?

I would love to have the ability to change multiple clip colors at a time; it would also be cool to be able to select several clips, and sequentially name them. Say you have 4 different drum loops, all variations of a funk loop. You could select them, and choose a function from the "Edit" menu whereby Live would re-name them sequentially ("Funk01", "Funk02", etc).

Yay!

yes...

i totally agree on that. naming & colouring multiple clips at once is a must & i don´t understand that it takes a version 5 to implement this...
I lost many hours renaming & colouring clip by clip over the last few years...
