How to set up recording for spdif?
How to set up recording for spdif?
Hi, very basic question but for some reason I don´t get this
working. How to configure Live 8 recording input options for
the digital (spdif) input?
There aren´t any option for that?
I´ve set the audio interface (Presonus Firebox) control panel input for
the spdif and I can hear the incoming spdif signal from my monitors but
no information goes to the Live 8 when recording.
Logic has a digital input option for each channel but Live has Ext. in stereo, 1, 2 and configure, configuring options don´t inlclude any digital/spdif.
What am I missing with the Live? The manual don´t mention spdif/digital input at all.

i don't have a firebox but i would assume that in it's drivers/software there is an option to route the spdif input to one of its driver channels
at least tha is how my sound card is

According to the Firebox manual only settings when using the spdif islongjohns wrote:i don't have a firebox but i would assume that in it's drivers/software there is an option to route the spdif input to one of its driver channels

the Firebox hardware control panel input clock source set to spdif.
6 inputs from the Firebox including the digital go directly to mixer and software. Harry

hmm
well it sounds like you have 1,2, configure in the input drop downs.
have you enabled the other 4 ports and tried those?
or maybe the spdif is only offered as an mme driver model? have you tried switching asio / mme and see what's available
someone with a firebox needs to show up and help you
good luck

same problem i'm having right now...i'm running a mic through my Mini-Me, spdif out and into an Mbox 2 spdif in. there's no option in ableton live for selecting spdif L/R...harry, did you ever find a solution to this problem?

Hi, have you been in touch with PreSonus about this?
Re: How to set up recording for spdif?
actually figured it out...my version of the problem anyway (which sounds the same as Harry's issue)...input from spdif is received on channels 3 & 4 in the I/O panel of the channel strip. using an Mbox standard you have 2 mic/line inputs and then 2 spdif left/right inputs...this is reflected in Live without any type of labeling to allow users to know that 3/4 are spdif related...i suppose this is because different interfaces will have different output choices and Live doesn't automatically know what those are going to be.
Re: How to set up recording for spdif?
if you set your COMPUTERs 'audio in' setting to your external soundcard's digital input (5-6 that would be with my edirol-f66),
and set the 'audio from' from ableton LIVE's selected channelstrip to 'Ext In', it then offers you to the possibility,
to choose either of your external soundcards inputs ... at least in my case it does ...
