Launchpad demo on Ableton.com : How to?

Hi,

I was wondering how to do like in the video at 00:25 : http://www.ableton.com/launchpad

I supposed he uses a Drumrack and a additional midi track for led feedback,
but there's a red led at the bottom et then he uses bottom's led to switch between Drumrack or something?
Can someone explain how does it works?

I reckon he just manually mapped the bottom buttons to clip launch and effect on/off buttons in Ableton. Not sure how that sends the info to change the colour of the LEDs though.

Sure. You can see how it works during my live set on my youtube here. Skip to 8 min in to see it in action. (First live performance with it was a bit shoddy but I worked out the kinks.)


First you set up your drum rack/instrument

Second you go to the i/o page

Now I have 3 extra midi tracks in my set (you will have to experiment a little bit to tweak it out to your liking. but this is what I have.)

One the midi input is set to launchpad input and the output is the launchpad.

the other two are set to the midi input of the drum racks and then sent back out to the launchpad.
