Re: ipad + m4l = lemur?
its wifi, i think touch osc should prolly work on it.
Edit: it also runs the iphone os and has the app store so it will support touch osc

The iPad uses all of the same apps as the iPhone, so yes, there are many multitouch apps that should work on the bigger screen iPad.

Re: ipad + m4l = lemur?
However it should be said that none of those apps have the power of the lemur, really. The Lemur has more UI objects to play with (multiball, range, etc.) and most importantly, has the ability to control objects with other objects, i.e. to let, say, a slider control the physics parameters of a multiball (or anything else you can think of). The lemur can change the position, size, color, and even behavior of objects in real time in response to user input or to OSC from outside the lemur. All this plus a powerful scripting engine, built-in midi capabilities, multiple OSC targets...
If all you want out of a Lemur is a configurable screen of sliders, buttons, and XY pads with basic (although certainly extremely useful) bi-directional control over OSC, then absolutely go with the iPad and TouchOSC (or mrmr, oscemote, etc if you prefer). Personally I'm waiting (and hoping) to see Jazzmutant put out a dedicated iPad app that a) works with the JazzEditor and b) lets you use Lemur layouts that have already been created.

Re: ipad + m4l = lemur?
short answer yes, long answer...
with alot of work yes.
This is a great interface for anyone with the inclination to exploit it.
It can use wifi but i would recommend using its usb connection if you want to use it as a serious device. Wifi just doesn't cope well with it ...at least in my experience developing for iphone.
