probably not for myself, but for my girlfriend for instance it's the perfect office tool / computer... a normal keyboard attached for the office and easy,
small and light on the go... for her needs more then perfect (and that is what i think the purpose of the unit is anyways)
therefor i did not voted, no option for me there...

I'm more interested in the iPad than an iPhone. The iPhone is too big to carry in a pocket, IMO, and too small for it's functions. I'd rather have a regular phone for phone stuff, and an iPad for web surfing and mobile apps. The price is not too bad either.

No camera for video ichat this would've been a nice feature.. no Adobe Flash.. big cons for me... I noticed as Jobs was surfing the web the NYT site had a video that was not playable.. I would've been embarrased if I was him... I will give it more thought down the road and Beatmaker would be a lot fun on the iPad my biggest complaint and the reason I never use that app is due to the small size of the iphone...

I will but on hardware iteration #2.
I think that when they'll drop a skype app with a camera that will be perfect for me.
No need to switch an iMac on except for making music!

Probably not. I think it might make mobile music apps like BeatMaker a lot more viable as serious tools, but other than that it really doesn't offer me much that my 3GS doesn't. At first I thought this would be perfect for the wife to replace her laptop, but lack of a front facing camera so she can continue to skype with all her friends is a deal breaker.
I'm kind of torn on seeing the need for the iPad really. Can't deny it would be nice at times having a bigger screen for movies and apps, but that just doesn't outweight the convenience of something I can stick in my pocket. I think if they would have added a single micro USB port and front camera it would make a big difference. I'll wait and see what the second version comes with.

My massive package actually takes up all the extra room in my pants. It's an anatomical thang.
Yea, I would never buy a 1st gen product anyway. They'll very likely put out a newer model with built in camera, which would be cool.

+1 This is what I'm gonna do. Judging by the evolution of the iPhone there's no way I'm going to be an early adopter. The 2nd and 3rd gens are gonna be really dope.
I still want one JUST for touch OSC.
