Novice question about stereo vs mono

Post by nycanary » Fri Jan 29, 2010 2:30 pm

Hey, just learning about all this stuff.

Have Live Intro and use Apogee Duet as interface. I plug the guitar in and I can only get L or R channels in Live. How do I get the track to show up identically on both left and right channels of my audio clip?

I bet its just one button or something...

Thanks!

Instead of choosing 1/2 as your input, choose 1 or 2 on the track. If you cannot see the 1 or 2 option, go to audio preferences in Live --> Input and enable the 1(mono) and 2(mono) option.

I've got a question pertaining to this topic.

I'm trying to record a impulse kick drum to a separate audio channel. I can record it fine...in stereo. I want to record it in mono. I've tried using the utility plugin on the impulse kick track in an effort to output audio in mono but it's not working.

How do I do this?

Ableton will always show 2 meters even if it's mono. The left and right channels are identical and added minus a few db's.....i think.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't like the way this is implemented at all.

Check out http://www.macprovideo.com/ for some great learning vids. You can stream them from there. They are also elsewhere on the net if you know where to look. I think there are about 98 vids in the series and they are top notch.
