Uninstalling a Live Pack

Post by Spazmo » Sun Jan 31, 2010 3:06 pm

Hello!

I recently downloaded Analog Drums from Puremagnetik, but the files seems to be corrupted. I couldn't figure out how to uninstall the pack to reinstall, so I right-clicked on it and selected delete. A dialogue box appeared asking if I wanted to move the folder (Analog Drums) to the trash. I looked for a trash folder/icon in Ableton and, not finding one, I deleted the system trash (in Windows Vista).

I tried to reinstall the Analog Drums live pack, but the system stalled (showing the Ableton (Not Responding) in the top bar, and when it came back it told me that the Analog Drums Pack was already installed. I looked for the Anlaog Drums folder under my Instrument Pack > Instrument Rack > Puremagnetik folders (where it had previously been), but was unable to find it.

I closed and reopend Ableton Live and tried the steps in the paragraph above again, with the same results I closed Ableton, restarted my computer, opened Ableton and went through the steps in the paragraph above again and got the same results (stalling and dialogue telling me that the live pack is already installed, though I can't see it anywhere).

Any advice on dealing with this problem? Also, anybody having problems with Puremagnetik packs?

Thanks!

Hi Spazmo,

For Analog Drums, users need 8.1.1 - it won't open in 8.10 - free update for any 8 users. Any previous version puts the message "this preset is probably broken" in the bottom bar. It's not broken - the user just isn't running the latest version of live ;)

To uninstall a pack, the user must go to his/her Live Preferences/Library tab and "uninstall" the pack from there. Even if you have manually removed the original folder, Live will still think the pack is installed so you must go through that step to really uninstall it.

Hello, Micah.

Analog Drums are working fine now. I must have missed the caveat on the site informing me that it only works with Ableton 8.1.1.

And Thanks for the pointer regarding the uninstall process, very much appreciated.
