Anyone have experience of the Core-audio-driver for the Mbox? I'm planning to buy an Ibook and need a descent audio-interface for recordings and I also need a digital output for my hifi-converter. I thought the m-box might be a really good choice concerning the price and the fact that I get ProTools included.
But how is the interface working with other apps, like Live for instance? Is it stable and low latency? By the way, how good is the internal soundcard at handling audio-apps - latency-wise etc?
I also plan to use an external HD that will use the FW-port so USB might be the only choice for audio-card. Any other recommendations on equal products? I would be really happy to have optical out and a mic-pre is necessary...
By the way, how much ram is necessary to add for the ibook? Is 768 enough or should I go for more?
Thanks!

hey Henrik,
the m-box and live have had their problems... mainly due to digidesigns drivers.... but they have seemed to fix the MANY problems i had with mine when using live 3. No such probs with live 4.
if you want to know more about these issues... just search "mbox" in the forums... you'll come up with heaps of info.
as for latency... you get 2 choises 512, and 1024.... nothing in between.
despite these issues... i quite like the m-box with my ibook mainly because it is super portable, usb powered, has really nice sounding pre-amps, and gives you the option to monitor through the interface, which means the latency thing isn't such an issue.
I only use the m-box when recording audio in... for gigs and general editing etc... i use the macs internal soundcard.
