Novation LaunchPad "Crashing" Issues

Not sure if this has been covered but I have a Macbook Pro, Ableton (8.0.9) and Novation LaunchPad.

All works well... until... I close the laptop.

On return the LaunchPad appears to "crash' and lose sync with the laptop, the lights flash randomly and I have to disconnect and reconnect to get going again.

Any ideas?

Update to 8.1.1?

Might give that a try. Although upgraded to 8.1 and was really glitchy so reverted back to 8.0.9.
