KeyMce - pc keyboard mackie emulation released.

Post by flipotto » Thu Feb 11, 2010 6:43 pm

*********
KeyMce updated to verson 0.8.6
*********

PC computer keyboard - Mackie Control Emulation.
Brought to you by the developer of Genmce and several bcr2000 mackie presets.
Built with Autohotkey.

Description:

Mix your music from you laptop, without an external controller. KeyMce is designed for a laptop, however, it will work with a standard pc keyboard.

KeyMce changes your PC computer keyboard into a midi controller, sending midi messages similar to the Mackie Control Universal (tm mackie) to control 1- 48 tracks.

Features – KeyMce - Version 0.0.37 (I should change this to 1.0 but too lazy...)

* Fader feedback, when set up properly no control jumps.
* Simultaneous faders -(total # depends on computer), developer has 8 faders working simultaneously with feedback, fader speed adjustment, as well as bankable to 48 tracks.
* Simultaneous vpots (pans or sends or plugins) control depending on daw. (Developer has 8 pans working
simultaneously.)
* 8 Pans – per bank - faders mixed at the same time.
* 8 Sends - per bank - using sends requires familiarity with mackie and use of huskervu very helpful.
* Multifunction mutes (like GenMce)
* Mutes/solos/arms (bankable to 48 tracks)
* Multi press functions from the same set of 8 F keys
* 8 ch selects (bankable)
* Jog Wheel.

Works in Ableton Live (future release will include plugin/return control)
Other feature requests considered.
May ... work with with other daw software as well, your mileage may vary.
RTFM

Interesting stuff. From that site I found a link to Tobybear's Midi Control Center which in a way is more interesting (to me at least) even though it's ugly ;)
It would be great if someone was to make WinMo7 app like that (but better looking and touch friendly) which communicates to a small desktop program which you then send to MidiYoke to control audio applications like people do with Osculator. An HTC HD2 would be nice for that.

New Version up - 0.50.1

Added support for Ableton Live.

In addition to above controls.
* Support for QWERTZ - German KeyLayout. (from tray menu setting)
(others may be possible, but I will need testers.
* Vpot selects (left win f1 - F8) resets pans or sends to center or zero.
* Reset fader to 0db
* RETURN controls / Plugins (may require huskervu to make sense...)
* Autodaw detection and automatic mapping
* undocumented - punchin/punchout (double tap the p key)
* Jog Wheel on the mouse wheel!

*reduced cpu load, code optimizations.

Coming soon -
- reset all faders to 0db (trying to think of the key combo that would be good for that)
- Reset all pans to Center
- Reset all sends to 0.
Might do that all in one keycombo - for up to 48 tracks.
- Transports
- Possible combination's of other controller emulations like remote SL, BCR2000 dpots.
- Redo the keymap to show what controls do what.
- make a video to show what it can actually do.
- add a controller to be mappable to the xfader

Give it a try!
PC only, sorry.

Latest version .56

Who needs this?
YOU DO!
* Laptop users on the go, that don’t want to haul a dedicated controller.
* Limited budget users, this thing is cheap! (free)
* Limited workspace studios – takes up zero real estate!
* Don’t own a midi controller or want/need another?
* Do you want a lot of control with minimal fuss?
* Don’t want to program/learn to program a controller or deal with all that hassle.
* Do you record your own music on a PC?
* Ablelton Live/Cubase(Nuendo)/Reaper user?

Now Open Source - gpl - created with autohotkey.
If you modify it, post modifications back to the ahk forum here http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/viewtop ... ght=keymce

This thing rocks with Live.
PC only, sorry.
Plugins/returns/control ... jog wheel.
It's like having a mackie on your computer keyboard! Ha ha ha - that is what it is.
I tried the donation route and the payware route to my frustration.
Ok,ok - here is the free route - just like genmce. I must move on with life.
Like FreeMce only much better and smaller.

Should handle any keyboard layout - qwerty, qwertz and azerty.
Layout is based on qwerty, so if you are using other layout, the physical location of the keys is what counts.
Meaning qwerty "Y" is "z" for qwertz.

Try it, what have you got to loose.
Buy me a beer if you like it on the genmce site.
