Driving MIDI in ableton with an electric guitar

Post by wb » Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:20 am

Hi, is this possible?

I have a Line 6 guitar port. I want to control VST synths by playing my guitar.

The best result would be an actual midi pickup with a controller box - I use an AXON AX50, by far the best of all the options I've tried so far. The Roland GR-20 is pretty good for its dollar too but not as many options. Haha have fun you will have many sleepless nights getting into this area of expertise!

I've done my research, and that Axon is indeed one of the best options.

Another is getting a cheap 'toy' guitar that is dedicated to midi. There is one coming out soon that is under 200$ :) Not sure how well it would interpret bends though..

Thanks guys, With my line6 guitar port I can play guitar with different amp models through my computer. Are there any plugins that convert audio to midi?
