I use a Novation X-Station 49 with my macbook and Ableton and Reason playing live.
I would like to get the Akai APC40. I plan to have both the Akai and Novation plugged into the macbook at the same time. I am using a Duet soundcard.
Should I anticipate any issues using both controllers at the same time? (For example, one controller affecting the wrong midi VST?)

Multiple controllers should not be an issue as you can set them all up in the preference menu. I use multiple controllers all the time but not specifically the ones you are planning to use.

Re: Using Two Midi Controllers
If you can, change the midi channel to be sure they're not using the same channel and might have possible conflicts. unless you want that. for example, i have three controllers that all have a way to send the same midi note on the same channel - it's the record button.
Re: Using Two Midi Controllers
Got it.
The idea is to have the akai trigger samples while the novation would run the synths in Ableton and Reason.

Re: Using Two Midi Controllers
Be careful with using different MIDI channels because the apc40 does this with the clip launching buttons be default and there is no way to change this.
