Ableton "sees" my sythesizer but doesn't "hear" it...

Hi,

I have a Yamaha CP 300 keyboard, and I just bought a USB cable to connect it to my demo version of Ableton 8 running under Windows XP. Ableton will show the CP 300 in the preferences/midi menu, but it doesn't get any signal when I play the keyboard. The keyboard driver is installed, and midi settings for the keyboard are the default ones (main midi out = ch1) so I set "input CP300-1" track button on. The program will "hear" me playing on the computer keyboard but not on the CP300. Any idea ?

Hi,

When you play the keyboard, do you get any flashing lights in the top right hand corner of Live? i.e. the key/midi-in indicators...

: No, no flashing lights in the top right hand corner, that's what is worrying me !
ShelLuser : No, what I meant is, there is sound only when I play on the computer qwerty keyboard, but no sound at all with the Yamaha.

OK, turned out I forgot to switch on the "midi out" button on my keyboard ! As you can see I'm a newbie
