Why does Live wipe existing audio tracks when i record midi

currently trying to record the output of a drum vst track to an audio track. when its recording it starts to wipe any audio thats on unarmed audio tracks. why? and how do i stop this?

are you working in arrangement view? you might want to play around w the OVR (overwrite im assuming) button at the top next to the play button....i think this will solve your problem
