Question: Ableton 4 does not see my MP3's (DJ Issue)
Ok slap me and call me stupid, whatever, just answer the question.
I was playing with DJing through Ableton and noticed I couldn't pull any of my beatport or digitaljaymusic MP3's into Ableton. Do I really have to convert every track on my hard drive to WAV format? I doubt it... please advise?

yes - or Aiffs - If you want to DJ in that way an external HD is highly recomended, unless you have a big internal driveianarmstrong wrote: Do I really have to convert every track on my hard drive to WAV format? I doubt it... please advise?

oops, i see you meant that mp3's can be converted to wav or aif...sorry for the confusion, forge.
i wonder why the lack of mp3 support, and other obvious DJ-related features? My guess is that Live wasn't originally meant to be approached as a DJ-style program, like Traktor, but it has caught on a lot with DJ-style musicians, just as it maybe wasn't necessarily conceived as a full-blown DAW, but has caught on as such. Now it seems like Live is being pulled in 3 directions at once. Its such a great, flexible program that every user seems to develop their own unique method, and thus has ever more specific desires for its future expansion. I think having add-on software "modules" would be a good way to go... like for $50 you can buy the "DJ" update that adds a load of DJ-specific features...or the "film-score" update, with video support... or "DAW" update with plugin-delay-compensation...
so many ways to go...
