MASTER EQ + DJ'ng in LIVE

Okay, so in the few times that i've used Live to play a show...i've always had to crank the tracks to where the Master would be peaking for there to be any "bumpage" in the house speakers.

Granted not all of my tracks are hi-res. However, I even have noticed problems with purchased music as well as .aiffs...even stripes from my own damn songs.....

Thus far, I have not used any compression on any of the channel nor the master.

Should i be EQ'ng the master? or limiting?

Do i need to find a new mastering engineer?

HELP?!

Any tips from people who have used Ableton to perform will be much appreciated!!

Best thing to do is to boost the volume on the mixer or amp you are plugged into and not worry about it in Ableton live.

Yes. Turn your levels up at the mixer/PA/amp, not inside Ableton.\

I play with about 10db headroom inside Ableton all the time: but I go through a DJ mixer on my way to the PA, and use the trim knob to correct my levels.

do you use an interface on your way to the Mixer or go out headphonejack 1/8th inch to rca in the mixer??

I'd never perform off an internal sound-card: would always use an external Firewire or USB interface.

I go right from 1/8th inch out.
