The best thing about sampler is its integration with Live, otherwise things like Kontakt, EXSmkII, etc blow it out of the water. Obviously you can't change it too much without breaking existing songs, so here's some stuff I hope gets considered for version 2...
1) Better filters. If you ever heard the filters on above samplers which can really sing, then you'll know the filters in Sampler sound weedy and thin.
2) Full envelope range for the filter. If I have cutoff near 0, I have to add the Aux envelope to get a real snap.
3) More intuitive velocity tracking. Currently when I add velocity tracking to volume it gets louder. Maximum velocity should correspond to the current volume (or cutoff) regardless of the amount of velocity tracking.
4) More parameters for automation and key/velocity tracking. For example - ADSR instead of Time, Sample Offset (I know this can be rigged in Sampler's MIDI tab).
5) Sample Offset as (a multiple of) samples instead of %.
I love what you (Ableton) people do by the way. Just my 2c.
