Can't change buffer size
...or rather, I can change the buffer size number, but once I leave prefs->audio and come back, the number is still stuck at 1024. Doesn't seem to matter whether I enter it with the return key or by clicking "apply" (which solved the problem for a previous poster with seemingly the same issue), the new number isn't sticking! Help!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Can't change buffer size
Hi Scotty,
which audio interface do you use, is it your Mac´s internal soundcard or an external one? Please try to reset Live by deleting the preferences:
- choose "Get support" from the help menu
- in help view click the link "Show preferences folder"
- close Live
- delete "preferences.cfg" from the preferences folder
- start Live
Does the problem still persist?
Best,
Jörg

Re: Can't change buffer size
That did the trick... thanks a bunch!
(I'm using a Digi002 for my interface currently, by the way... hoping to upgrade to something else soon)
Thanks again, Jörg!

Re: Can't change buffer size
Well, this is interesting: I'm now noticing that my I/O in audio prefs has been set to "built-in audio" for some while today. I found that if I switch the audio INPUT device to the "Digi002," I still have control over my buffer size. But if I also (or singularly) assign the OUTPUT device as the Digi002, I'm back to the same problem I had before. Only this time the buffer size is locked at 512.
When I switch output device back to built-in, buffer size reverts straight back to what I had manually entered. Switch it back to the Digi, and it's back to 512 again.
Tried trashing the prefs, didn't seem to help this time...

Re: Can't change buffer size
the problem is almost definitely digidesign's fault. I'm a digidesign dealer and I spend a lot of time fixing problems with protools for customers. it is my experience with digidesign that they dont work nearly as hard to make their interfaces work with any OS as a standard interface. all they care about is getting your 002 to work with protools 7. now they dont even care about you at all. your using a product they no longer sell that was designed for a version of protools they no longer care about. they have a driver that works barely. that is why you cant change the buffer size. its the same problem if your running any other music software with the same driver. whether its core audio (OSX) or asio (windows). although your results will vary greatly on older systems like vista 32, xp 32, OSX 10.5 leopard seem to be much more functional standalone audio drivers.

Re: Can't change buffer size
Thanks for the straight-up insight... it's very much appreciated. I had a feeling the problem might be on the Digi's end. I'm hoping to upgrade to one of Mackie's Onyx mixers for my A/D conversion ASAP... ~scotty

Re: Can't change buffer size
I use Live 8.2.1 with Digi 002Rack, MAC OSX 10.5.8 I had the same issues when trying to change the buffer size in Live's preferences window.
What worked for me is when I typed in the buffer setting in the preferences window to values 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024.
It would only allow the buffer setting to change to those strict values, not in between. Works when I want to shift different
settings. I don't have to delete the Preferences.cfg file either.
Hope this helps
