limiter settings

just playing around with the limiter on the master track of a balanced and mastered track. was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding gain and ceiling settings/numbers on the limiter within ableton.

If it's actually already been mastered, as you say, there's absolutely no reason why you'd want to perform further limiting on it.

ok, i rephrase that, the limiting is the last thing i think i need to do to finish mastering the track (im trying to learn how to master a track at the moment)

Tarekith, I have used this page as one of a few resources in trying to learn how to master. I appreciate your guides and thank you very much for them. the guide says that you have the main output at -0.20, does this correlate with the ceiling value? also when you are talking about the gain reduction meter does that correlate with the gain dial?

Tarekith's otherwise excellent beginner's guide must have been written before Live had it's own Limiter plug-in. There are definitely better Limiter plug-ins [+1 for Elephant], but you should be able to get a decent result using this setting and bringing up the Gain control till you get a sound you're happy with...
