Editing and using an Acapella

Hello all-
I'm somewhat new to Ableton and am stuck on a project that I hope you can help me with. I have bought an acapella which is a 4 minute audio file with an original BPM of 126. (When I import into ableton, ableton recognizes this original 126 BPM)

I want to cut it up into parts so that I can use only snippets during particular points in my own Ableton track.

I started by creating clips by editing this file in Ableton, but as you know Ableton doesn't do destructive editing, so I had a bunch of clips that were the entire audio file and were looped at certain points.

Thinking it might be better to do destructive editing, I brought the file into Audacity and started cutting. I have a bunch of independent samples of the Acapella now.
HOWEVER, when I bring those into Ableton, the sample BPM is showing at like 88BPM or 90BPM. I know that Ableton does its best at guessing and with less information in the file (due to cutting it and making shorter), it probably doesn't have much to work with.

My question is: what is the best practice for dealing with long Acapellas and editing them? Do you guys edit them outside of Ableton or just use Ableton and loop only certain parts of the entire clip???

I normaly just cut up, loop etc.. and leave samples as they are (Not consolidated - as I feel this degenerates the quality of the wav too much) just in case i need to use more of the pella later on. I never noticed any performance deficit keep the samples whole.

I never edit audio outside of live anymore either, I just throw wavs into arrangement and do it there.

One thing I sometimes do is have a copy of the full tune in another audio track to match up the sillibance and timing of the vocals (normaly do this if the pella does not sit with my own beats).
