Hi
On most of my songs the cpu load is so heave that the sound "crackles" constantly every 5 second or so.
I will buy a new macbook, but I am kind of curious about how much better it will be. I'm not a computer wizard, so to speak..
I am going to go for a MacBook Pro, as I need the firewire for my sound card.
How much difference is there between a 2.53GHz, 2.66GHz and a 2.8 GHz? Is it worth the 300$ extra?
I would really love to be able to run 6-7 soft synths and a great deal of plug ins, loops and samples while playing live.
Answer from someone who knows about this stuff would be appreciated.

Re: Cpu overload
A lot of people are having this problem. Most likely it is not your laptop. Don't go buy new one! Wait for a update and then see what happens!
I'm having that same problem and some windows users are also complaining. Go report!

MacBook Pro 15,4" Dual Core 2,4 Ghz, 4 GB DDR3, xiosynth 49, Live 8.1.3 and .4b, Traktor Scratch Pro, Yamaha HSM80.
Re: Cpu overload
I actually don't think it is the program. It only happens when I put too many tracks/effects in the set. The same thing will happen if I run a too large file in Final cut pro or adobe illustrator.
But I would love to know how much the difference will be if I buy the best Macbook.

Re: Cpu overload
yeah, you're gonna want to hold off buying that new laptop. it's the problem with the software.
I have a brand new macbook pro 2.26ghz // 4gb ram // 500gb HD. It crashes like crazy. always 100% cpu load. static sessions hover at around 44% cpu load while not even playing back, and very limited samples. on say 4 tracks.
my old crummy laptop handled nearly unlimited tracks and effects on live 6. unfortunately my logic board melted on that one so I had to upgrade everything. live 8 is just bogus right now. I am 3 months behind any production work.
