Midi Reset

Post by allanaceflyer » Wed Mar 24, 2010 7:12 pm

I've just been putting some old songs that were on Cakewalk before it had audio onto live on a Roland 1080 and another old synth. Will be turning them into audi but I have noticed when the midi hung no reset or midi panic can I see in live to stop it, in cakewalk it used to be 'the scream'.

Also I was thinking of using a novation launch pad but people on this forum have mentioned that it seems to use a lot of midi channels and at the moment that could play havoc with what I am doing. Does an apc40 suffer the same transmitting data on lots of midi channels, I am using native kontrol on a korg pad control which has a mode for launching clips from the session view and this does not cause any midi problems. Yes I do know my pad control has a panic notes off but I can't be bothered to come out of native kontrol to press it when I should be able to assign a button to kill all notes or is midi dead?

Live doesn't have a 'force midi notes off' button, I just pull the midi cable from the offending device.

I use a Launch Pad and APC together, no worries. neither device is meant to be used via midi channels, think midi port instead. I love both devices and would buy them again if they were stolen.

midi isn't dead, it just sucks. it won't go away because people will always love old synths. people still deal with voltage controlled synths and that's even older.

Thanks for that it's good to know that all the midi is kept within the port for the launch pad or apc. As I use a novation zero sl the launch pad seems more appealing to start with but the apc also seems a very well build piece of kit it's good to know the two will work together well.
