Using a mic with Ableton

Post by E_marouf » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:06 am

can someone please help me out with this. i have a pretty advanced mic that i want to use with ableton to record sounds so i can use it in my music, but i do not know how to make ableton read the sound waves from my mic. when i plug my mic in the usb of my computer the light on the mic turns green but when i talk into it, there is no signal going to ableton. does anyone know how i can use my mic on ableton. or what instrament i have to use to make ableton read the mic?

Does the usb mic install its own audio drivers? If they are separate, you might have to choose a different audio device source on Ableton's Preferences in the Audio tab. After that, I'm not sure if you'll be able to hear things through speakers..

Does your mic need phantom power? You may need a pre amp or audio interface.

It should be fine if it's a USB mic. Did you arm your track in ableton? Check all your inputs as well.
