I'm off to the beach, Dubspot EDU

Miami Beach that is. WMC. For the last couple years Dubspot has been carrying the torch for Ableton at WMC.
DJ Stryke is a local acquaintance as he's a native too. Also looking forward to the party afterwards.

Kudos to Dubspot for hosting this event which was very Ableton Live centric.

The highlights for me were:

Fellow Miami native DJ Stryke showed how easy it is to work with Torq and how versatile it can be. The most powerful and unique feature of Torq is that it can host any of your Vst's safely! They run in their own memory space so that even if you load a buggy third party plug and it crashes... it wont affect your set as it will continue to play unaffected.

It is always interesting to find out what Peter Kruder is up to. He said that he now works exclusively in Live because of it's creative workflow. His collaboration on Christian Prommer's Drumlesson Zwei project resulted in a very organic, soulful album. Well worth listening to.

Barry Cole's innovative use of the Launchpad was a real jaw dropper. He explained his setup taking advantage of the slice to midi tool so that he can create very spontaneous on-the-fly jams without having to look at the screen. I'm gonna have to go out and get one now that I've seen it's real potential.

Lastly Serato Product Developer Bill Mitsakos unveiled Scratch Live 2. But the fascinating part was the details of the The Bridge and how it will allow use of Ableton Live features from within Serato.

All these sessions and more were painstakingly filmed by Dubspot and they say that they will be available shortly for review. I highly recommend watching them.
