select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
Actually Live consider any note mapped as "Toggle", with the exception of mapping a clip with launch set up as Gate.
The user could choose the behaviour of the button mapped directly on the bottom, where there are the relative/absolute options.
This can be useful in mapping devices like Launchpad, and makes MIDI keyboards more flexible.

Re: select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
about this subject, I'm still unable (even with Dummy Clips + Follow actions) to use NoteOn / NoteOff as
ON / OFF of a device...
Would someone help me ?
PS: I've done this : NoteOn/NoteOff triggers a Dummy clip (GATE , Quantiz = None) , and this clips sends a MIDI CC (value=127)... The problem is that when I depress the note (i.e. NoteOff is sent), the Dummy clips stops, then no MIDI CC (value = 0) is sent.... This would be required !! Helppppppp...

Re: select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
You need my R3turn device for Max4Live, it triggers a new dummy clip upon a clip stopping, you'd specify the clip and have this turn the device off....

Details the device and others in my Modular Series...

Re: select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
So, if I understand well, it is impossible with just Ableton Live ? Could you send a template showing the use of APC40 pads to trigger things like "momentary switch" ? Isn't your device free, S4racen ?S4racen wrote:You need my R3turn device for Max4Live, it triggers a new dummy clip upon a clip stopping, you'd specify the clip and have this turn the device off....
**** It would be so simple to have an option when we do MIDI assignations , on the left broswer bar, in the assignations list, there could be a column "Momentary switch / Toggle switch" for assignations related to NoteOn/NoteOff MIDI messages !***

Agreed a simple solution would be as you suggest, until then it's down to the individual to program it within max4live or use a control surface script.... I provided my devices for free for a year and now charge to cover the time i spend developing them....

Re: select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
Hello, I just looked at your R3turn on your website. I did not understand how R3turn can be useful in order to create a MIDI assignation with a "Momentary" behaviour. Can you explain in detail ?
If it works, I'm interested to buy it.

Re: select "Momentary" or "Toggle" for MIDI Note Mapping
Maybe try this method... no need for m4l, just midiyoke or UAC-driver:
Manually Assigning MIDI Values in Ableton Live
Oh and... with Automap you can set the LP-buttons to Momentary. Watch the LP videos on thedspproject.com:

R3turn and F0llow allow you to set up dummy clips using Gate as the launch method, when clicking the Clip Stop Button, the follow action chosen will perform at clip end and if a clip stops.... SO if you reach the end of the dummy clip it'll trigger either the clip below, the same clip or a numbered clip in the track.... It'll also trigger the chosen follow action if your clip stops so when you let go of the midi button that's fired the Gate clip...
If the Chosen clip is one that you've drawn to reset all the values of the rack then that's what it'l do.....
R3turn sorts out Racks in return tracks whilst F0llow just does the same without taking control of a rack so you'd use it on ordinary audio tracks....
I responded with the solution being R3turn to your specific request of being able to have dummy clips that turn the effect off when they finish playing as opposed to being able to select Momentary or Toggle for midi mapping....

ps the devices run in Max4Live....
