Who is getting an iPad Saturday?

I've seen several recent news stories showing off the iPad and they were really focusing on music apps. Of course it wasn't the quality music apps that we get excited about on here but that still says something. Even foxnews took a break from their constant Obama bashing to make the iPad their top story. All news networks are calling it a game changer.

I somehow managed to not pre-order one, partly because I was waiting for the 3G models being released later in the month which I may or may not use but it's not a feature you can just install later. In the lag process I also managed to not earmark enough money in my bank account to accommodate my "must buy now!" Apple addiction that is slowly creeping in hour by hour.

The disappointment always comes from PC lovin' Apple haters who have never actually owned or used the thing they claim to be an authority on.

Their outrage will be the equivalent of buying a motorcycle and complaining at length on how it's not a car.

I'll get one in a couple of years. When it's a choice between some novation controller and a used iPad with lots of mature "build your own GUI" type apps I think at that point an iPad will win on price and features. I can only see the iPad as a midi controller that allows me to read the forum on the toilet. (can the Launchpad do that?)

I love my iPhone (2nd gen). I also love MacOS in general, and consider it to be way better than windows. Neither of those things have much to do with how insanely unuseful the iPad is, or most of my issues with Apple as a company (pricing, bad tactics, etc). However, what I am an authority on is the myopic nature of Apple-worship.

I'm actually kinda sick of my Launchpad. Lots of limitations that bug me. But who knows how good any of these controller apps will be? I know one thing: I don't want to sit and fuck with a lot of OSC/connection mumbo jumbo. I wanna plug and play, baby.

Other than that, who the fuck wants to surf the web on a crippled web surfing device?
