TECHNO To swing or not to swing ?

Post by Tweaking Knobs » Thu Apr 01, 2010 9:49 pm

Techno before didnt used swing.

Now it does , I think minimal started this trend.

I always use swing nowadays for techno , what is your taste or opinion on using swing or not ?

By the way the swing most techno and minimal use is 1/16 at 50%

If there is one song at 30bpm without swing and another at the same tempo but with 50% 1/16 swing they just don't sound good even if they are in sync.

I don't like wearing boxer shorts under my baggy pants because they make my d*ck swing.
YMMV

YMMV
Swing is the worst with swimming trunks that have that net. Swing creates rashes, especially when saltwater is at 100%.

It's all about the groove.

However, there was an awful lot of very poor techno for quite a few years that just took the duple loop thing and wasn't very funky at all. . .
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

.

This is the most stupid thing i ever heard... everybody was using swing...

but its true that the bad copy of a copy of a copy of techno of the late 90´s has´nt used swing anymore..as it has´nt used groove anymore.. or original sounds..or strange melodys or strings of any kind...

but no one really considrered this as techno ..speed noise polka.. or noisy speed polka..

later that was called schranz in germany.. in england the revered to it as hardcore before the german eddel pop band scooter posessed and cursed the term for all times..

With minimal swing defenetly had a renisance and thanks to the slower tempo actually real swing tracks started to show up.. So its correct that it appears strong in minimal..but the one track they all do .. theese digel digeldidigeldidigeldi ongoing shuffeled percussion on 808 hightom or alike..

sorry..i did that track in 93 and it absolutly sounds the same.. actually no big thing... a shuffeld beat with digeldidig perc line a good groovy bass..back than a 303 with turned down filter ( only nerds have it always up) sure.. only 3 tracks on the desk..thats most certainly minimal..
just..that was a single track and not a whole genre that sounds like a single track.. but thats just regarding the tooltracks anyway..

There is a general trend towards classical swing music.. also outside of the techno szene..

Oh, just common inaccurate timing of the 909 here, no real swing, the machine swings by itself once the start button is pressed
