Will I get a smoother experience with my RME ff800 on Mac?

When using maxforlive and at the same time opening max standalone, I get noises and also had crashes. Problems also when Im streaming from myspace or youtube when Live is open.

I have a non TI chipset PC laptop, and I wonder If I should pay a lot of money to get a mac laptop with half the processing power from my quadcore just to get a smoother experience overall.

Will the change from Firewire 400 to 800 be a significant improvement? Now im working on 512samples latency.
