Having to reboot after a crash - why?

Post by hakey » Mon Apr 05, 2010 6:10 pm

If I try to restart Live after a crash I usually see this dialogue:

Audio is disabled. Please choose an audio output device in the Audio Preferences.

If I open audio prefernces and select my soundcard (Edirol UA 25), I get this message:

Failed to open audio device "Edirol UA-25"

The only way to get Live to open the audio device is to reboot my computer.

What's going on, and is there anything I can do to persuade Live to see my soundcard without having to reboot?

(This isn't a problem with a particular revision of Live - it's happened on all versions of Live I've used, 7.x to 8.x)

Nevermind - just discovered that disabling then re-enabling my soundcard via the device manager sorts this out.
